Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox doesn't display position in the song and cannot be used to skip to a new position in the song. Unlike what I saw on other previous bug reports, the timer on the right DOES work properly and the player WILL advance to the next song, it just never displays any progress.

Using Rhythmbox version 0.12.0-0ubuntu4
in Ubuntu 9.04.

 SHELL=/bin/bash

I've discovered that this bug actually comes and goes. Sometimes it uses the progress bar and other times it doesn't. It seems to depend on the song. Some mp3s will display the progress bar and others will not. Even the ones that do do not seem to allow skipping forward within the song.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

 * Is this reproducible?
 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
 * Do you get the issue on any mp3 example?

 This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We have a new rhythmbox version in Lucid. If you could test this bug in the new version, this would help us a lot. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs relevant for this particular issue so it can be reported to the developers of the software.

I had this bug on 9.10 too. I just updated to 10.04 and the bug is still here. The progress bar never moves and cannot be used to skip forwards. But the timer does work and the player does advance to the next song.

I don't know what you meant by providing "updated logs" though. I don't know where Rhythmbox's logs are ...

FYI, the bug repros very consistently for me. I haven't found any song where the progress bar works.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.
