Bug #452725 is a duplicate of this one. That one recreated this bug with the latest Ubiquity (2.0) and Kernel by using the 15 Oct 2009 daily .iso image burned to USB. Machine installed fine with beta disk a few weeks ago.

Marc, I'm not convinced that your issue is the same. Guillermo's bug is seemingly because the X server fails to start, whereas yours seems to be that X is already started. I'm going to unduplicate them for now.

Can you please boot the live CD, select your language, then arrow down to the "Install Ubuntu" option and hit F6 on it. Hit escape to clear the menu that appears and then add "--debug " just before the "--" mark, so it will look something like "quiet splash --debug --". Please then press enter to boot the CD, and when the installer crashes, attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/installer/dm to this bug report.

Not quite sure what to think.

I encountered this while iso-testing the 10-27-09 Karmic i386 (md5-e04b9618b8ff83b0cbcbb58390ce1600).

I had successfully completed the Live Session, Entire Disc install, and Auto-resize install.

This automated bug report popped up while (or just after) using gparted to proceed with the Manual Partitioning install.

I will continue with the testing and report at the ISO Testing Tracker.

Sorry about that last comment, after seeing that apport did not auto-attach any logs I'd intended to only send those logs to myself via email so I could look at them more closely after I got to an actual desktop environment and I goofed.

Just FYI the installation completed successfully without rebooting or anything.

If you are experiencing this issue, please try with the final release of Ubuntu 9.10. We made some last minute changes that should fix the problem.

I can verify that this is resolved in the final release.

I tried several different methods of installation (choosing both install or try without) and all worked properly!

This should be marked "fix confirmed"!

i hit install ubuntu
it took a long time to load and then i had the crash report from within gnome.

The system do not recognize the USB pen and modem.

I have this on the ubuntu forums

I am trying to install xubuntu 9.10 on a machine, when I boot with the xubuntu 9.10 cd I select install, instead of taking me to the install process it takes me to the live cd, also during that time It goes to, I guess what I would call terminal, while it is loading, during that time I am seeing allot of buffer I/O errors SRO on the sector and logical, after all of that It goes to the live cd, then it has a crash report, then that takes me to what I believe is closest to what I have bug: 441904 reading through the comments of that bug, they were talking about it should be fixed on the final 9.10, I go through the install on the live cd, (clicking on install on the desktop) everything goes fine, after that I do notice another crash report but I don't remember what that one is, I reboot like it ask, take out the cd and when the grub tries to load I get this:

Error: no such device: af1b622e-4651-4ccd-959a-cb684df49e64 failed to boot default entries

I did have xubuntu 9.04 upgraded to 9.10 installed on the same machine, I wanted the newest partition format, so that is why I am trying to do this clean install

also, reading in the bug report someone was saying their cd player was faulting and that was giving them the I/O's, I replaced the old cd player with a new dvd/cd player and still problems

I iso-tested the RC candidate yesterday, live session and four installation scenarios, and I have not been able to reproduce this bug.

Specifically I've booted pressing a key to enter the full "options" menu w/o this error, and also just sat and watched until offered the option to either "install" or "try" also w/o this error.

In fact I don't think I've seen this error in Lucid since perhaps Alpha 1 or 2.

Ηλεκτρονική Κάρτα Πολίτη, την οποία και προωθεί με ταχύτατες διαδικασίες.
Τώρα δείτε τι παίχτηκε στις αρχές; του 2009:
«Ηλεκτρονική κάρτα υγείας σε Αθίγγανους

Πρακτικά αυτό σημαίνει ότι εξυπηρετείται η αποστολή δεδομένων σε ειδικό
γιατρό όταν χρειαστεί μέσω του δικτύου κινητής τηλεφωνίας και του
διαδικτύου, χωρίς να είναι απαραίτητη η παραπομπή και η μετακίνηση του
ασθενή.

Κάθε φορά που ένας ασθενής θα επισκέπτεται ένα ιατρείο ή το νοσοκομείο, θα
δημιουργείται ένα μικρό ηλεκτρονικό ιατρικό-ιστορικό αρχείο που θα συνοδεύει
τον ασθενή σε επόμενη επίσκεψή του. Μέσω της ηλεκτρονικής κάρτας δίνεται η
δυνατότητα αποθήκευσης και μεταφοράς μεγάλου όγκου δεδομένων με ασφάλεια
μέσω ενός έξυπνου chip, ενώ, αποφεύγονται τα προβλήματα που προκύπτουν από
το παραδοσιακό σύστημα δημιουργίας ιατρικού φακέλου.

Το πρόγραμμα περιλαμβάνει, επίσης, πλήρη εξοπλισμό των ιατροκοινωνικών
κέντρων των οικισμών των Αθίγγανων με σύγχρονα μηχανήματα, σε μια προσπάθεια
να αναβαθμιστεί η ποιότητα των υπηρεσιών υγείας, ενώ στο εγχείρημα αυτό θα
απασχοληθεί έμπειρο και εξειδικευμένο προσωπικό. Τα πλεονεκτήματα που
παρέχονται είναι πολλά τόσο για τον ασθενή, όσο και για το γιατρό, καθώς

Πρώτα τσίπαραν τα ζώα. Όλα τα ζώα που συντηρεί ο άνθρωπος: αιγοπρόβατα,
αγελάδες, γάτες , σκύλους κλπ

Κατόπιν έφεραν τον ΑΜΚΑ.Μετά εξήγγειλαν την Ηλεκτρονική Κάρτα Πολιτη , αφού
πρώτα την δοκίμασαν πιλοτικά σε αθίγγανους και ποιος ξέρει σε πόσους άλλους.

Σημερα κουβάλησαν το ΔΝΤ και με βάση το μνημόνιο θα χρησιμοποιήσουν την
Ηλεκτρονική Καρτα Πολιτη σαν όπλο εναντίον τής φοροδιαφυγής, της
γραφειοκρατίας κλπ

Η δικτατορία του αντίχριστου είναι εδώ, χτυπά τις πόρτες μας, απειλεί τις
ψυχές μας, ζητά εμάς και τα παιδιά μας ....
