Manually remove libuniconf 4.4 and wvdial, install libuniconf 4.6 and then install wvdial. FIxed it for me.

ArbitRabbit., workaround did the trick. Hopefully Ubuntu will have this fix once the final release comes out. Thanks.

This is fixed in wvstreams 4.6-2. Please sync wvstreams 4.6-2 from Debian unstable into karmic. Changelog:

wvstreams (4.6-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * QA upload.
  * Conflicts/Replaces libuniconf4.4 for libuniconf4.6 binary package
    to allow clean upgrade from a previous version (Closes: #540320).
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.8.3, no changes needed.

Andreas, there are Ubuntu-specific changes. It's not obviously a sync but may be a merge (the FTBFS part will need to be tested)

wvdial (1.60.1+nmu2ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low

  * debian/rules: Drop -fno-rtti from CXXFLAGS, cherry-picked from unstable.
  * wvmodemscan.cc: Adjust comparison function to fix FTBFS.

Rolf: The fix is in the wvstreams package, which has no Ubuntu-specific changes, not the wvdial package.
