Bug Description

I have opened up Gparted with two seperate iPods (on both Jaunty and Karmic) and the disk partition seems to be incorrect.

The 4GB iPod nano shows up as 964.84 MB of unallocated empty disk space.

The 120GB iPod Classic shows up as 13.95 GB of unallocated empty disk space.

fdisk gives the following error:
Warning: Device /dev/sdc has a logical sector size of 2048. Not all parts of GNU Parted support this at the moment, and the working code is HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL. Error: Can't have a partition outside the disk!

See attachments.

I marked this as a duplicate of bug #405022 because there are a lot of similar issues, and sometimes but not always crashes, caused by the fact that libparted doesn't support "disk devices" with a logical sector size > 512.

Hi Jan, Bug #424030 and Bug #405022 are not duplicates as I am not getting the same error output as reported in that bug. As well, gparted never crashes for me.

@David: even if you didn't see any crash, the "Warning: Device /dev/sdc has a logical sector size of 2048. Not all parts of GNU Parted support this at the moment, and the working code is HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL." message indicates a situation where GParted can't work reliably because of a limitation of libparted.
