Bug Description

Binary package hint: xfree86-driver-synaptics

Laptop Model information::
bios-version:NAPA0001.86C.0056.D.0705231401
system-manufacturer:Blue
system-product-name:M515 platform
system-version:1.0.01-35

My touchpad is not being detected in Ubuntu 9.04. I checked the kernel logs and it detects a "Macintosh mouse button emulation", which I don't think is the right device. My mouse is supposed to be a Synaptics touchpad as detected in Windows Vista.

I also had Kubuntu 7.10 and booted from live-cd, but the mouse still doesn't work and it detects the same "Macintosh mouse button emulation" device.

Following the DebuggingTouchpadDetection wiki, I'm attaching all files/logs specified in it and initially reporting it here in xfree86-driver-synaptics, although my guess is it's actually in the kernel.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 0.99.3-2ubuntu4
ProcEnviron:

SourcePackage: xfree86-driver-synaptics
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-15-generic i686

Is the issue still remains in ubuntu 10.04

I hope you can provide us with the following output::
cat /proc/bus/input/devices >~/devices
and attach it in a separate attachment.

Hi,

Unfortunately, I don't have the laptop with me anymore, and as such I could
no longer provide the information needed.

Regards,
Jake
