Bug Description

hi im running mixxx 1.70 with two serato scratch cv02 timecoded vinyl and a maya 44 usb soundcard, with an external mixer. Im using the latest asio drivers for the maya 44 and have the input level down to min on its settings and output level up to max. In mixxx i've got the input level up so that the the left bar is almost full and two right bars hit on the visual are at about 60%.

With this set up i mostly get quite good playback at around 6ms latency but sometimes playback, especially bass will go very fuzzy, putting the latency up seems to make it worse and going down does not get rid of this.

Ive tried pretty much all of the versions of mixxx and i have the same problem, and when its seems like the fuzzy playback has stopped my other problem will happen. When i load a track sometimes, it seems to happen more in the right player mixxx freezes, i normally drag songs from my music folder and soemtimes it will run all day then i load a song and it freezes.

ive got a advent 5511 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7350 processor, 2GB RAM and 250GB hard disk.

It would be great if you could help sort these problems out because its great software, thanks in advance for any help

The left bar should be full, green, and read "OK!". The two left bars should wiggle sinusoidally. Make sure Mixxx's internal preamp slider is all the way down and use the input knob on your sound card to adjust the level.

I'm using Xubuntu GNU/Linux 9.04 with Mixxx 1.6.1 , and player freezes when it has been some time playing and mixing. Can occur at any moment, and all graphics in the window freeze (menus work).

thanks pegasus, i have managed to sort out the problem with fuzzy playback with your advice, by turning the input volume down in mixxx.
However I still sometimes get unstable playback, especially on high notes where it sounds like there is a small pitch fluctuation, and although mixxx crashes less frequently, it does still crash sometimes when i load a song

@Actiu informatica - Debian / Ubuntu packages for Mixxx 1.7.0 are available from our website @ http://www.mixxx.org/download.php; if you can recreate your issues w/ 1.7.0 please file a separate bug item in the this tracker.

edkimatta: If you find an MP3 that consistently crashes Mixxx when
loaded, can you please attach it to this bug thread? Without it, we
won't be able to fix it.

To help with pitch stability, you may wish to increase your latency
setting in Mixxx.

thanks for your reply, i have tried loading loads of songs to see if there is one that crashes consistently but it doesnt seem to work like that. The last song that it crashed on when loading worked fine the next time i loaded it so it just seems to crash at random?

The next time it crashes, use the search tool in Windows to try to
find a file called "mixxx.log" on your hard drive. Please attach that
to this thread and we'll see if we can figure out what's going on.

Thanks,
Albert

I think the random file crashing is probably the Analyser issue that was fixed in 1.7.2. edkimatta -- can you try out our latest release, 1.7.2, and let us know if the issue still persists?
