Bug Description

It has happened for some time now and I'm now filing a bug since it's annoying and it doesn't get fixes:

What happened:
"Das Panel ist beim Laden von »OAFIID:GNOME_TSClientApplet« auf ein Problem gestoßen" Error Message appeared which says: "The panel has come to an error wile loading »OAFIID:GNOME_TSClientApplet«".
The TscApplet is not added to the panel.

What should have happened:
It should be in the panel now

What did I do before:
Clean System start-up. The Applet was in configuration from before (even from 7.10 I think - upgrades are beautifull) and was working as it should until some weeks ago.
To reproduce: simply add the tsclient applet to the panel - won't work.

So... I don't have no alternative for a two click comfortable RDP solution so I'd appreciate if someone with coding skills fixes it.

Have fun :)

If you need further info - I'm here to ask!

Getting the same error, Installed it in 9.04, and upgraded to karmic and running all updates as of today. This is on x64

Any workaround? Can I do something until the fix?

I have the same problem with x86 9.10 fresh install. I've just realised that how comfortable to use this applet, when it isn't working... :)

Same problem here; "The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_TSClientApplet"."

Using an install of 9.10 x86_64 upgraded from 9.04 x86_64. TSClient app worked fine in 9.04. I can replicate the problem on an x86_64 machine that's been freshly installed from different source media.

+1 64bit fresh install of Karmic yesterday, fully updated with ~/.tsclient folder copied over from previous Jaunty install. I also tried renaming ~/.tsclient to ~/.tsclient_old

md5sums match JeremiahFelt

Fülöp Róbert - A glaringly obvious workaround is to use the usual tsclient app instead of the applet?

Fresh reinstall of i686 from CD media yields the same problem.

confirm that problem occurs on upgrade from 9.04 - and i must admit that this is quite annoying as i used this applet to quickly switch to few wallboards that are in my openspace :) instead of opening the client and looking for the appropriate machine

Also have the same problem since upgrading to 9.10 (no problem at 9.04).

Output in .xsession-errors is not very helpful:
** (gnome-panel:2961): WARNING **: panel-applet-frame.c:1273: failed to load applet OAFIID:GNOME_TSClientApplet:
System exception: IDL:Bonobo/GeneralError:1.0 : Child process did not give an error message, unknown failure occurred

I confirm the bug on 9.10 x86_64 (after an upgrade from 9.04).

Is there any workaround to fix this applet please?

I downloaded and installed the updated version of tsclient, and adding the applet worked great.

Uninstalling and reinstalling it from mcdjork's link fixed the problem. The only downside is the applet on the panel is not movable, but at least it works.
