Bug Description

I can't really say what this bug is. I had been away from my computer for a long time, and when I came back, the Ubuntu One icon on the Gnome panel had a red exclamation mark on it, which I had never seen before.

I clicked on it, just to see what was up, and Apport launched and generated this bug report.

Hopefully the attached files will something to someone, and it helps make Ubuntu One better.

Hi,

We recently published an update to the Ubuntu One Client that should correct this issue. Can you upgrade to the current client and see if you're still experiencing this problem?

Thanks for testing!

Hi Rick,

How do I upgrade the current client? I went to website and clicked on
install again but it ends up just saying it's already installed.

Thanks,
Marc

Marc,

What I usually do is at a terminal prompt

 sudo apt-get update

and then

 sudo apt-get upgrade.

You can also use System/Administration/Synaptic Package Manager.

Hi Rick,

I updated and upgraded but I'm still getting the error - I have sent the
error report again. I'll be patient and wait for another fix?

Thanks,
Marc

Just noticed something which might be connected to this somehow ... not sure ... since I have ~/Documents linked from ~/Ubuntu\ One and also have ~/.tomboy linked from ~/Documents/Notes, I have my Tomboy notes in Ubuntu One. And after having tried out Ubuntu One again after the update, there's lots of *.note.u1conflict files in there...

Agreed - I'm still getting the red exclamation mark.

Just got the latest update; problem still remains. I did notice that it says "Ubuntu One is now updating your files" and then it works for quite a bit, and then the red exclamation mark with the "there might be a bug" notification came again.

When I shut it down and start it again and try "u1sdtool --current-transfers" a couple of times while it claims to be working, it always displays "Current uploads: 0 / Current downloads: 0".

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a logfile in either /var/log/ or ~/.config/ubuntuone/ that could give a hint as to what exactly the problem might be.

User apps shouldn't be writing to /var/log. And logs are not
configuration data. Therefore they are in ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log
instead. You probably have a syncdaemon-exceptions.log which has a
backtrace for a BadTransition error.

Hi Rodney,

sorry - didn't know these things.

In any case, there's a couple of logs in there and I've attached the current one. If you need anything else I'll be happy to upload that as well.

Hi Raphael,

It looks like your issue is similar to bug #422176 but not exactly.
Could you please file a new bug by clicking on the tray icon when it has
the red ! over it? Thanks!

I was able to fix the problem on my machine by doing a new install of
ubuntu.

Works now.
