Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-netbook-remix

I have not seen any reference to this yet, so I thought I would report. I have been testing the Karmic Netbook Remix in VirtualBox and trying out the configuration that I currently use with Jaunty NBR.

I have noticed that when the background is changed to a solid color instead of an image file, the background changes to white instead of the color shade selected in the Appearance/Background tool. In Jaunty, the background can be set to a solid color with no problems.

The text is still a legible white on gray, but the background is white.

Confirmed - I accidently removed the wallpaper and saw this effect as well, even though the background color was set to a color other than white.

We should have a watch on the current colour from gconf (/desktop/gnome/background/blah), and keep the ClutterStage's colour updated.

What we won't support is the fades, but I'm okay for with that for this release...at least we won't have a white background an illegible text (unless the color is white, of course :)

Despite my best efforts this one has me stumped thus far. I just checked, and we are already monitoring these things... In fact everything appears to be well in order. For the life of me I cannot figure out why it is rendering white. I have checked that when we set the stage color it indeed is setting it to a color and not white. I got nothing... yet...

Figured it out. clutter_stage_get_default does not actually return our parent stage (maybe because we are using gtk embed). Also clutter_color_from_string does not work on rrrrggggbbbb strings, so we use gdk color parsing if the string matches that signature. Branch with fix is linked.

Many Thanks! The fix came through on today's update and it looks beautiful.
