Hello,

thank you very much for you mail. Unfortunately, I have still the same
problem with Ubuntu. Additional problem has been occured that after a
while Ubuntu hangs and I can not move the mouse any more. Nothing works
anymore. Probably, it is a kernel problem or a cache or memory problem.
I have 1G memory. It must be enough. When I open several tabs in firefox
after a while Ubuntu crashes down and nothing functions anymore.

I will probe with an older kernel. Maybe I will have more luck. I hope
you can sort out the problem and forward me an update.

I wish you all the best.

With best regards,

Massood Salehi

Massood, could you run memtest from the boot loader (grub) menu, for at least 12 hours? Just in case there is a problem with your RAM.

Hi Lars

I have used an older Kernel and it works better. I think that it is a kernel problem. Sometimes it hangs but not always. I think you have to work on Kernel and not on the RAM. Is there a command which supervise the Kernel activity in order to see what ist going wrong with the Kernel?

Thank you

With best regards

Massood

Dear Lars,

I can not understand why there is a big problem with new Ubuntu versions
and my Notebook. The very stable version ist Ubuntu 8.04. The newer
versions make my notebook crash. I can use the maus but nothing more can
be selected and every thing looks like a standing picture on the screen.
I have done a RAM test (memtest) before installing and every thing
looked absolutely ok and the test has been passed successfully. I
thought that it may be a Kernel problem. I have tried an older Kernel
version and it looked to work better with the 8.10 Ubuntu version but it
was not perfect. With an older version my notebook crashed sometimes but
not always. I have downloaded the newest Ubuntu version 9.10 and tried
to install it but it crashed during the installation. Nothing works
anymore and I have re-installed the version 8.04 again in order to have
a functionable version on my notebook. Do you have a new Idea what I
could do more to solve the problem?

Your name sounds German. If you are German, I would prefer to write in
German language. If you are in Germany we can make a phone call (I will
call you) and will describe more about the syptoms of the crash on my
notebook.

I thank you very much and wish you all the best.

With best regards
