Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Ubuntu 9.04
Firefox 3.0 and 3.5
sun-java6-plugin 6-14-0ubuntu1.9.04

At my banks online banking service the java applet is not even loading correctly. It has previously worked fine in both ff 3.0 and 3.5 but now fails in both versions. The applet is at https://www.netbank.nordea.dk/netbank/index.jsp

Is that the only applet that has a problem? What happens if you try those at http://java.sun.com/applets/ ? The one you reference is signed, and I'm not in a trusting mood today (or any day).

If you mean the ones at http://java.sun.com/applets/jdk/1.4/index.html then they all work. Doesn't that applet give you the option to trust just this time? Up to you of course.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Sometimes Firefox profiles can become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one until you find the problematic one.
firefox -ProfileManager
firefox-3.5 -ProfileManager

Okay, thanks Micah, the problem in ff 3.5 is with Adblock Plus 1.1.1.

Please leave as incomplete, setting as "new" is going backwards
What about on firefox-3.0?
Can you also please run the following command
apt-cache policy firefox-3.0 firefox-3.5 adblock-plus

I changed the command slightly to reflect the fact that in firefox 3.0 the problem is also caused by the Adblock Plus 1.1.1 plugin.

The problem here must be with Adblock Plus version 1.1.1. So I installed the repository version, 1.0.1, and the applet in question now works fine. I had installed the Adblock Plus extension outside of apt not thinking this was a problem, I was apparently wrong. So what's the next step?
