Bug Description

jaaa does not launch when installed through the "Add/Remove..." Gnome menu option.

I've run the menu command manuall (jaaa -A) and this is the resulting output:

Alsa_driver: the playback interface doesn't support mmap-based access.
Can't connect to ALSA

Using the alternate (JACK) invocation "jaaa -J <n>" gives the following error:

Can't connect to JACK

Is this reproducible with the latest upstream release available on Maverick?

Same problem exactly on my Acer Aspire One and IBM Thinkpad both running Ubuntu 9.04.
It worked fine on my desktop pc running Ubuntu 8.04. Not sure if it's related to the machine or the Ubuntu version.

My Solution:

The correct parameter on ubuntu 10.04 for jaaa (on Lenovo) is:

jaaa -A -d hw:0

As well documented in jaaa -h

It's all very well it being "well documented", but that doesn't make a difference if the installation doesn't add the correct flags to the applications menu item.

I'd suggest the install scripts should be updated as per beefreak's comment.

This bug was fixed in the package jaaa - 0.6.0-1ubuntu2

---------------
jaaa (0.6.0-1ubuntu2) maverick; urgency=low

  * By default, run jaaa with ALSA support (LP: #417422).
