Binary package hint: network-manager

Ubuntu karmic here

Hal is deprecated, see http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/hal

NetworManager doesn't depend on hal since July.

Tony, can you check? Thats basically just ensuring that we dont have libhal-dev or something in the build-depends anymore
