karmic: installing libavcodec-unstripped-52 removes ffmpeg and vice versa

Tried to convert stuff to mp3 in karmic using ffmpeg but failed miserably. Then tried to install libavcodec-unstripped-52 but this package is incompatible with ffmpeg:

Yes, the current version of ffmeg is 0.5+svn20090706-1ubuntu1, but the current version of libavcodec-unstripped-52 is 4:0.5+svn20090609-2+unstripped2. It appears that the unstripped libraries were not built in this last build.
