Totem playing Youtube videos error

Hello.

Today (20.8.2009) I noticed that when I try to play some videos in Totem from youtube.com using plug-in, Totem reports this error to console:

But when I try to play this video using Youtube flash player in web browser, it's OK. It is possible that the programmers have changed the shape of the youtube web address.

I can confirm this bug on all of my Ubuntus.: 2 9.04s and one 8.04. There is a slight difference in the error message
"Could not open location; you might not have permission to open the file" on 9.04 and
"Could not open location" on 8.04
If totem is launched from the terminal I get a similar to the reporter's message.

A couple more things to mention:
1) It appears to be a recent problem, since I just recently noted this totem plugin and started advertising it to my friends when installing Ubuntu on their computers.
2) Totem finds videos in the search window with the right urls and shows their previews
3) urls are correctly fetched, since one can copy them (from the search window) and use the command
mplayer "copied_url_in_quotes"

I think that during some update (totems or related) urls are not handled correctly anymore (like it wont work without quotes with mplayer )

forgot to add: I can listen to BBC podcasts in totem without problems.

I can confirm this issue. YouTube inside Totem worked a few days ago. I get the same error messages. Looks like Google changed something and YouTube in Totem broke...

The youtube's fault it might be, however mplayer plays fine (if quoted) the same youtube's urls found by the totem search engine.

Note that the youtube plugin is removed from totem-plugins in Karmic (although not from the package description)

VLC can play this stream: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IbdFztkat4 while Totem cannot (in latest Karmic).

This bug still exists in fully updated 9.04 systems. On a related bug, lightpriest wrote a one-line patch that fixes the problem, at least for now. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/323649/comments/10

Could this patch be put into -updates for the affected distros and be fixed?
