Binary package hint: totem

When i play movies or music the player freeze, and if i try to restart the player the entire system freeze.
I have try totem, vlc, kmovie, kaffeine and more. I have a laptop hp 6735s.
I do not have this problem on my desktop komputer.

are you able to ssh into the machine or it hangs completely? that maybe it's a kernel hang.

the system completely freezes so i have to use the power button. but after the movie player hangs it takes about 7-10sec before the system freezes.

whatever an user software do the system should not hang, that's not a totem bug

In my case i have the same laptop: HP 6735s, and i have the same issue.
i try totem and vlc, when i see a dvd at some random point all the system freezes.

All graphical enviroment hangs up. i try to restart gdm (ctrl+alt+backspace) but no response.

Also i try to open other tty console. i put mi login and password but stay there without show any prompt.

No other way to diagnostics, only i i can do is a forced-restart.

i will try to reproduce this error and post the dmesg and others logs.

Hi. yea that was a realy boring thing, i was later told that it happened becous the kernel. Now with the Ubuntu 9.10 everything works out just great :)

guys
i do hav a prblm too........
there is no prblm while loading bt while playing video files lyk of avi format it freezes for 5-8 sec then works normaly .
It freezes the whole system am using ubantu 10.04lts
is it comes bcoz of using full visual effects on???????
& i didn't find out any other major errors yet.....
