Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

The Flash player has stopped working with Firefox 3.0. Websites state that flash needs updating but when try I am told that a later version is already installed. I have tried uninstalling Flash and reinstalling. I have tried uninstalling and installing the version the websites want. I have tried Firefox 3.5. Nothing makes any difference. My installation is pretty much out of the box with nothing unusual installed.

Thanks for your advice. I removed swfdec-mozilla. I was unsure exactly where the firefox profile is held so I completely uninstalled and removed everything I could find related to firefox and flash. I then rebooted and reinstalled them. It appears that I did not remove the profile but whatever I did seems to have cured the problem.

Thank you,
Robert Nickless.

More than likely swfdec-mozilla was the cause of your problems but no way of telling at this time.

Do recommend a fix? I'm new to Ubuntu, I'm pretty good diagnosing Windows,
but not that sharp on Ubuntu!
