the package fails to install if a copy of /boot/grub/menu.lst is not found

new installations of Karmic use Grub 2 which does not use menu.lst

worked around the problem by copying in a dummy copy (my old backup actually) of menu.lst

As of Kubuntu 9.10, Kubuntu is using the new Grub 2. Unfortunately, kubuntu-grub-splashimages does not work with Grub 2 and nobody has stepped up to maintain it. Since it does not work and is unmaintained, kubuntu-grub-splashimages has been removed from Kubuntu for Kubuntu 9.10 and up. This sadly means that further bugfixes will not be made. Thanks for understanding, and have a nice day all the same.
