Sharing options in Nautilus don't show correct status

Bug Description

When I right click a folder in GNOME nautilus 2.26.2 an select "sharing options" there is always the same display "nothing is shared, nothing is selected" even if a folder is already shared.

Example: I have a shared folder "bilder" which was shared by using "sharing options" in nautilus just a minute before (see below), but when opening "sharing options" on that same folder again, it looks as if the default setting are valid (nothing is checked, nothing shared). So that means I have not only no feedback about the sharing status of a folder - I even can't unselect or unshare the folder by using nautilus alone. Is this a bug or a feature? The tiny tag on the icon of a shared folder, which shows the sharing status, is removed after reboot of the machine but the folder is still shared.

I expect that the visual feedback about the sharing status in nautilus represents the current status of the sharing properties of a folder, but this is not the case.

"does't work correctly" is not really a descriptive title could you try to explain the issue there?

I try to explain what I monitor here on my system (may be this is on my system only?)

1) I right click the folder: /home/andreas/Bilder and select menu item "Freigabeoptionen" in my german version Ubuntu
2) I don't see the check mark of "Diesen Ordner freigeben" checked, the other two check marks are greyed out

Now I do change the 'Diesen Ordner freigeben' attribute by cklicking the checkmark

3) Now the folder is shared - even if I close the properties windows "Freigabeoptionen" and open it again.
4) Now I restart my computer an check the properties of the same folder again.

Observation:

5) There are no checkmarks - it looks like in step 2)
6) The folder is still shared(!) as can be seen by smbclient -L //localhost

That means the check marks of the folder are reset after reboot but not the property to be shared. Please look at the screenshot I just c reated.

I don't understand German, but I'm guessing (based on what Iain Lane and
Google Translate have both told me) that ~/Bilder is the German
equivalent of ~/Pictures, which is one of the XDG standard directories.
This would mean that this bug is probably as the nautilus-share bug
about nautilus-share not recognizing XDG standard directory shares upon
restart. I'd go get the bug number, but my Internet connection is being
a pain, and launchpad won't load.

yes - ~/Bilder in german is the same as ~/Pictures in english. Thank's for the info about the "nautilus-share bug" I didn't know of. So it seems to be that I have a known problem here and not a singular bug on my system only.

It seems, that this bug has consequences on other shared folders. I created several other shared folders together with the "Bilder" sharing and found that all those sharing attributes (icon on the top right of a shared folder, check mark that indicates that the folder is shared etc.) of the other folders are lost after a reboot of the machine. The sharing itself is working fine - but not the display of the attributes. When I want to remove the "is shared" attribute of a folder I have first to share it again and then to unshare it. I have the same problem on two different machines, the second machine was installed fresh two weeks ago - all updates applied and no special changes or modifications.

Regarding that, it's Bug #280480 I was referring to.

Which folders are these exactly? If they are the XDG standard
directories as mentioned in #280480 then this bug's a duplicate of that
other one.
