Hello, and thank you for helping to make Mythbuntu better. This issue is blocked by Bug #153457 (lirc needs to support it) - although hopefully that is being resolved in 9.10 / Karmic with the recent lirc 0.8.5 release (I'm assuming 0.8.5 supports the device).

Thank you for your bug report. As it is likely that nobody on the Mythbuntu team owns the specific hardware you have, we will require a few additional files in order to meet your request. Please attach the following files so we can add your hardware to the database.

lircd.conf containing all buttons with Common English Names (Up, Down, ChanUp, ChanDown, ect)
.lircrc configured for at least MythTV
hardware.conf

We will be unable to fulfill your request without these files. Until then, we will mark this bug as incomplete as we do not have the resources to generate this files ourself.

These may be semi automated responses but can I point out that the IguanaIR is a usb device with no specific remote attached. This may be a slight change for the way Mythbuntu looks at things, for instance I have several remotes at home, each can work with the serial device, unfortunately the device is conceptually linked with the remote in MCC.
Thomas' request for buttons with common english names etc is not able to be fulfilled.

Thanks for the update Barry. What I would suggest then is to attach a
working hardware.conf to the bug report and we can at least decide what can
be done with it.

Thank you for helping to improve Mythbuntu by opening this ticket. Unfortunately the Mythbuntu team does not have the resources to handle the constant stream of new devices such as this. Since the lirc team does not have a bug tracker, the most efficient way to get the device supported would be for you to contact the lirc team on their mailng list and describe everything you know about the remote and any data that you have collected. If they do add support, please feel free to re-open this ticket with the information about what they called the device so that it can be considered for import into Mythbuntu as a patch.

Hi Marc et al,

This isn't a remote exactly. It's an IR receiver/blaster in-one. Support is in LIRC and recompiling LIRC once I install the header files from the iguanair website (http://www.iguanaworks.net) it Just Works(tm) :)

The downfall of performing the additional actions necessary to get it to Just Work is that everyone who uses Mythbuntu may not be as comfortable doing command line manipulations and using apt. IMHO *Buntu was originally designed to overcome this exact situation where users have a difficult time getting things to work because of complex (to them) compiling issues and non-automated tasks.

In summary, once the GPL headers are downloaded and installed (available at http://www.iguanaworks.net) recompiling the lirc package makes it Just Work.

Seems like something that could easily be taken care of in *buntu.

Thanks!
