Bug Description

Binary package hint: bind9

bind9 fails to upgrade. Apparently there's a new init script in this version of the package that assumes rndc works, when this is not guaranteed (at least on upgrade from the previous version).

Manually stopping the service:

 /etc/init.d/bind9 stop

and then starting it again:

 /etc/init.d/bind9 start

works.

 apt-get install -f

will pick up from where it left off and re-configure bind9. Should install OK.

hi daf...i tried ur solution...doesnt help me. the /var/log/daemon.log file has:

I think you're following up to the wrong bug. Your daemon.log shows nothing that has to do with bind9; and this bug was fixed months ago.
