Bug Description

from GNOME HIG :
ctrl+L : Present or focus an entry field into which the user can type a new address or location to view
http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/input-keyboard.html.en#standard-shortcuts

Then it would be convenient to implement ctrl+L key combination to focus the entry field

How about Ctrl+F? (Search aka Filter)

Could leave Ctrl+L for the map?

Ctrl+F is better indeed

I have to look to map functions i haven't use them yet

phraymd should also have key combinations to open sidebars (tags, map)
A problem is that, without a menu bar (Bug #380671), user will have to discover by itself what are key combinations (on the contrary : http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/images/input-accesskeys-shortcuts.png.en )

Ignore the last comment, typed the wrong number when uploading data using apport-collect.

Reading HIG, f3, f4, f5, f7, f9, f12 seem to be ready to use (however f9 opens the sidebar in Midori, Totem, Gedit and Rhythmbox for instance (whereas it allows to send/receive in Evolution), f5 is for Reload in Epiphany and Evolution, f7 for speelchecking in Abiword...)

I really don't mind which keys. right now alt-T and alt-M should toggle the
respective panes (but due to duplicating the shortcuts T and M in the tag
pane, the toggle doesn't always work).

i confirm that neither alt-T nor alt-M works
and ctrl+F still requires to be implemented

rev264 is about shortcut accelerators for the sidebar (ctrl-B), find Entry (ctrl-F) and sort order combo (ctrl-O)

some observations :
ctrl+F is fine
ctrl+O may be confusing : it's usually used for "Open..." (for corresponding GNOME HIG link, see initial report)
ctrl+B would be ok for sidebar if F9 was not ever used by GNOME applications (Totem, Gedit and Rhythmbox for instance)

therefore i would suggest :
change ctrl+O for something else : ctrl+something or Fx (F3, F4, F5, F7, or F12*)
change ctrl+B for F9

* Maybe F12 since that key is at the right of the Fx row (similar to the reverse order button at the right of the toolbar) ?

The current accelerators are placeholders -- just needed something while I
put accelerator code in place.

Perhaps we could rename this bug "Choose and Implement Keyboard Shortcuts"
or something?

Clear Find Entry : since ctrl+F selects the text inside the Search box, user only has to press ctrl+F then Del to clear Find Entry therefore a shorcut may not be needed
