Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

I am running Ubuntu 9.04 and Evolution 2.26.1. I'm using it with my msn/hotmail account (I have an msn address from when I was a premium member with Verizon, no longer premium member). It worked until 2 days ago when I began to get errors. At the bottom it will say that the message is 100% complete, but it never leaves my outbox. At first the error I received was

Error while Storing folder 'Outbox'.

Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync

Now it is saying that my connection with smtp.live.com had timed out. I am online.

I've searched for solutions, but nothing seems to have worked. My password and other information have not changed.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/evolution
NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia
Package: evolution 2.26.1-0ubuntu2
ProcEnviron:
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: evolution
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-13-generic i686

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

Thanks for the report, is there any news about this? Did you sent the bug upstream? May you tell us the number there? Could you provide a log of the send operation? Please run evolution as: CAMEL_DEBUG=all evolution >& evo.log and attach that resulting log file to the report, thanks.

Here is the bug number--I just sent it tonight. 589564.

The log said:

Error while fetching mail.
Failed to read a valid greeting from POP server pop3.live.com.

Should I add that to the other bug I logged?

Thanks,
Megan

I've got a similar problem. I'm not sure if it's the same bug, though. If I should file a separate bug report, please let me know.

When evolution is trying to send a message, it never completes. The message gets sent (not sure if multiple messages get sent or not. It might hang on the first one), but the operation never completes.

Additionally, once it gets going, I can't change folders; it starts to load the new folder, but the display stays on the old folder, and it seems to get stuck.

If I try to close evolution after it gets stuck, the whole UI grays out, but it never closes. Eventually (and I've had "eventually" be as long as 30 minutes before), I have to issue a `killall evolution` to get it to close. Selecting quit from the file menu doesn't work. Clicking on the gnome "Close Window" X doesn't work. ^C, if I've opened from the command line doesn't work. (By doesn't work, I mean it grays out).

I'm attaching my evo.log as requested by Pedro Villavicencio above as jcd-evo.log.

This log contains the output from trying to send a message, followed by trying to change folders (to Lists or Lists/Something, I can't remember which), trying to close Evolution, and then issuing a `killall evolution`.

I just started using Evolution yesterday with my Xubuntu/Ubuntu distro. New to Linux, BTW.

My issue is that I can't send emails if they are too long.

Sorry, I haven't tried counting to see what the limit is, but more than a couple of paras, maybe 75 words, and the send process fails. If I shorten the email, it sends with no problem.

I am using gmail pop/smtp. I took a brief look around Evolution's preferences but didn't see anything that made me think that I could remove an email size limit...
