Bug Description

Hi,
(I'll include my konsolerc that I captured after the upgrade)
My konsole was fine under breezy; I did a dist-upgrade
and it seems to have picked a different font and this one has
rendering issues; I think it us
using 'marlett regular 11'; certainly if I reselect that font I get the
same issue.

The rendering issue seems to be a truncation of some characters
as they are typed - I wonder whether the metrics are wrong?
In particular if I type the three character 'm v' when I type the
'v' the right most vertical line of the 'm' gets erased (see screen
grab).
Its possible this is resolution/anti-alias settings/X driver/etc dependent
I guess.
I'm running a Radeon 7200 with the standard Ubuntu X setup.
(I'm running the konsole under a gnome session).

I'll try and attach the screen shot and config file immediatly after
hitting submit.

Konsolerc captured in dapper when I could see the problem

As I type this the 'm' gets corrupted when I type the 'v'
if I force a refresh it is fine; and when I originally type
the 'm' it is OK

Hi Dave,

is this still an issue on edgy and KDE 3.5.5?

Short answer yes; but see the longer answer.....

When I got your message I checked and found marlett was no longer on my konsole
font menu. It took me a bit of digging but I found that marlett was a wine font
in /usr/share/wine/fonts/marlett.ttf (owned by the wine package). I added that font back in and the issue still occurs on konsole.

It also seems to happen on 'mitra mono', but is fine on DejaVu Sans Mono

Hmm - I've just tried mitra mono in gnome-terminal and it has the same rendering issue; OK - so this bug can't be a kdebase issue - I wonder where it should be reassigned to? (Or is it those fonts just aren't suitable for terminals? Yet they show up in the selection....)

I've just got the same on a current gutsy with the 'mitra mono' font (at 11) on konsole on a different machine to the one I originally reported it on.
So it's not a machine/driver issue, or my user settings.

that could be a fontconfig bug
