This sound like a hardware issue. Have you tried a different mouse?

If the right mouse button is sticking at all internally it may 'click' twice.

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately a paper cut should be a small usability issue that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. I'm afraid this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

This is a hardware specific issue , not a papercut
A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu 9.10.

For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read > https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut

Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as "invalid" ONLY in the papercuts project.

For resolution of the bug, kindly identify the projects affected and re-assign the bug to that project, otherwise the devs of the concerned project might not be notified of this problem. For more about finding the right package> https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.

Are you sure? Because, I remark this problem on all my ubuntu with gnome. I don't think that is a hardware problem.

This is an irritating "feature" of Jaunty that has not been an issue in earlier releases, or in other distros.

A simple software key-debounce routine is all that is needed to solve this aggravation.

I think there should be an appeals process! DivineOmega and mac_v have blown away this complaint without considering how easily it can be fixed. This is NOT in the spirit of One Hundred Paper Cuts.

@AnotherDAve
Kindly read my previous comment fully and also the wiki link for papercuts.
I have asked this bug be re-assigned to the concerned project.

I have not blown away the issue,This needs to be fixed , but Papercuts is not the right project for this.

This does not happen in systems which have the old .gnome , .gnome2 , .config files ,
I tested this in a fresh install, this problem is not hardware specific.

This is due to gnome settings > "The default menu positioning function will position the menu at the current mouse cursor position. " > http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/unstable/GtkMenu.html#gtk-menu-popup

This doesn not happen in firefox , which solves this issue by opening the menu a few pixels below or above the pointer, so no option is selected.

The fix needs to be in nautilus alone...

Unfortunately i could not find this bug initially , a similar bug , Bug #410636 , has been confirmed and assigned.
I'm marking this as a dup of the latest one. you can follow the progress on Bug #410636
