Bug Description

Playing video on a website such as ABC or CBS plays fine with Visual Effects set to "none". When the Visual Effects are set to "extra" the video fails to load. I have tried this on two different laptops, both with ATI video chips (but not same chipset). If I set the Visual Effects to "normal" it plays fine too.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/yelp
NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx
Package: yelp 2.25.1-0ubuntu5
ProcEnviron:
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: yelp
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-13-generic x86_64

I haven't added any other than what came with 9.04, unless it was through the update manager.

Bryce,

 Firefox 3.011 on 9.04 is what I've got on my system too. Though my laptop
runs an Intel Centrino with Intel Mobile 4 Graphis chip set.

I've tried a random video on CBS.com and it ran OK - can you give me a
detailed step by step for a video that doesn't play? I'll see if Ican't
reproduce the problem and then we can go from there.

Thanks,
wil

but I tried the other videos too. Is it because I'm running the 64bit addition? You probably are too. This has been the only problem that I've found with the 64 bit. This is a fantastic release. I first tried the 32 bit addition, but the 64bit works better yet.

Hi Bryce,

Ah - the 64-bit addition may be the issue. Here is a great fresh thread
from one of the support forums:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1200599

Give that a read (if you haven't already) and let me know if it helps at
all.
