Bug Description
unr 9.04 on Asus EeePC model 900A
using netbook ui mode
on left side of screen: administration tab
click on 'login window' icon in center screen
(new window opens titled "Login Window Preferences")
select the accessibility tab
review the functions of buttons in the 'sounds' region of the accessibility tab
click on buttons to assign sounds and test .ogg, .mp3, and .wav format sounds
my system plays static unless I select .wav format sounds.
problem: user can assign sound files which are not .wav format onto events
for example, in my tests, all 5 .ogg file format sounds are not played correctly
suggested solution: sounds which are not a supported format should either
(1: be supported) or
(2: should be masked out via selection mask) or
(3: the user should be notified of package restriction of only selecting wav format).
Note: if .ogg and other sound file formats are actually intended to be acceptable choices, here is an exact failure on my system: my system played static when I performed the above, then I selected /usr/share/
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
Is this bug reproducible with the latest Lucid packages ?
Tanks in advance.
