Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

I don't know how technically explain that, but some webs with information icons on it doesn't show then, so you can't select theese icons.

The best example I can show is this page with geographical information, in which FF-3.0.11 shows correctly and FF-3.5 rc2 don't.

http://callejero.paginasamarillas.es/vemaps/mapa.asp?l1=Calle%20de%20Goya,%2055,%2028001%20Madrid%20%28M%29&lat=40.4250210178541&lon=-3.681466839995&prov=Comunidad%20de%20Madrid&loca=Madrid&calle=de%20Goya&tv=Calle&nu=55&mode=n&site=callejero

1/2) My FF and Ubuntu versions are this:
Firefox 3.5~rc2+nobinonly-0ubuntu2~umd1~jaunty
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090622 Ubuntu/9.04 (jaunty) Shiretoko/3.5

3) Expected behavior: To show the same icons that FF-3.0.11

4) What happened instead: No icons to click and no info while using the mouse over them

---
Notes: Don't know if this a Javascript problem, I've attached an OpenOffice document with screen captures. No-Script plugin is disabled.

Here is the error:

Error: uncaught exception: Msn.Drawing.Exception: Your Web browser does not support SVG or VML. Some graphics features may not function properly.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. It seems to be a problem with SVG in RC2. Let's see if the same thing happens in the release version.

Error: uncaught exception: Msn.Drawing.Exception: Your Web browser does not support SVG or VML. Some graphics features may not function properly.

Changed in firefox-3.5 (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

If any, its an upstream bug. I didnt get what the problem is, but if its a problem file a bug in bugzilla.mozilla.org against the svg component and give us your bug id.

How can I see the message error you see? I'm using FF-3.5 FINAL now, and the same problem persists. Isn't the svg component you mention the same for FF-3.0? What is supposed I must report about a component that I don't know about?
Can't you redirect the report or the technical info you know to the appropiate development group?

Thanks.-

Forgot to paste my FF version again:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1pre) Gecko/20090704 Ubuntu/9.04 (jaunty) Shiretoko/3.5

I'm using this repos:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/fta/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/fta/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

If I'm wrong, please tell me.

Thanks.

That is not the official repo or even unofficial repo. That is fta's ppa. You are running a pre version of Firefox 3.5.1.
The unofficial (Mozilla Team official) Mozilla Security repo is here:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozilla-security/+archive/ppa

It has Firefox 3.5 for Jaunty. As soon as the final version hits the Jaunty universe repo, I will do further testing.

I'm running the current firefox-3.5 package for Ubuntu Jaunty:

Package: firefox-3.5
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 3.5+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.9.04.1

I see that this is an issue when the user-agent string has "Shiretoko/3.5" but it works fine when the user-agent string has "Firefox/3.5" instead. I'd like to suggest that this is a duplicate of:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.5/+bug/397211

I've found that if in "about:config" menu --> "general.useragent.extra.firefox" I replace the keyword "Shiretoko" with "Firefox", the icons are show, but not it's tooltips.

This has already been reported in bug 397211. Please comment there if there is something new. I see tooltips on select pushpins. I already sent a message to the website asking them to use other methods of detecting the browser.
