Bug Description
Upon installing Ubuntu 9.10 from a recent CD, Karmic Koala works ok. When
I use the sudo apptitude safe upgrade, the following happens. First, a large number
of updates are downloaded and installed. Second, when 9.10 (updated) is started for
the first time, GRUB does the loading, the graphic progress bar completes itself,
and the graphic login screen appears. I enter my ID, then password, the screen goes
blank, a very short duration of an 8 to 10 line command line notice appears, and
finally the graphic login re-appears. This cycle continues with no successful graphic login.
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5315-2153 with upgraded 2 Gb RAM.
