Bug Description

Binary package hint: kopete

Kopete claims to support AIM group chats and has done so seemingly for quite a while. However, on Ubuntu Jaunty (Kopete 0.70.2) on my Thinkpad T61, none of the AIM group chat features work. When others attempt to invite me to a chat, they get a message saying "Unable to send message: Not supported by client" and it silently fails on my end, even when run from a terminal. I can't even view existing group chats, nor can I attempt to start them via the methods mentioned in the docs: dragging user icons into the Participant dialog or via the (completely missing) Chat->Invite menu option.

Yes, I am running GNOME, but had the same issue under KDE last fall (KDE 4.1, whatever version of Kopete was standard in Intrepid at its launch).

I've attached a screenshot of the menus.

Thank you!

Other people can invite me in Lucid, but I can't initiate group chats, nor
can I add people to them. The Chat->Invite option is still missing (I'm also
still running GNOME on the T61 if it makes a difference) and dragging user
icons into the Participant dialog still fails. I'm now running Kopete 1.0.0,
as that's what the Lucid repos have.
