Bug Description

Evolution (2.6.1, dapper) won't allow me to add a new address book. Select "New Address Book", enter a name for it. The "OK" button stays disabled. Can't find any workaround.

Thanks for your bug report. That works perfectly for me. Can you run evolution in a terminal and paste the output here? If that information is too sparse, it'd be nice to run
  CAMEL_DEBUG=all evolution > evolution.log
and attach evolution.log here.

I can add the log if you still want me too, but there's no log output (even with CAMEL_DEBUG=all) while attempting this operation. The OK button in the dialog simply stays disabled. It's disabled to begin with because an empty string isn't a valid name so perhaps the string never gets validated?

I'm surprised that it works perfectly for you. I wonder if you aren't trying precisely the same thing we're trying. When you tried it did your dialog look like the one I attached earlier?

I had the same dialogue, only the 'OK' was enabled, once I typed one character in the text entry.

I have the same problem with evolution 2.6.1 (2.6.1-0ubuntu1). Can delete address book, but the "ok" button when adding an address book remains inactive.

This bug is still needs info - can't anybody add the portions of evolution.log generated by
        CAMEL_DEBUG=all evolution > evolution.log
to the bug report?

I was just going to but now I am unable to reproduce the bug. I disabled my accounts so that the debug log wouldn't have any personal data in it and when I tried to reproduce the bug it wasn't there anymore. Re-enabling the accounts didn't cause the bug to return either.

Can any of the other reporters still show the bug?

Here is the log of Camel Debug, but it shows absolutely nothing (as far as I can see) about this bug, and I have no explanation for it.
During the session in Evolution with Camel Debug, I tried to add two new address books: one in local and one in LDAP.

Here are some informations more about my installed softwares:
Evolution is 2.6.1 from evolution2.6.1-0ubuntu1,
Evolution data server is 1.6.1 from 1.6.1-0ubuntu1,
runing on the dapper drake flight 6 (fully upgraded today 20th of april 2006 11:59 UTC).

If you need more, just ask...

I just did a clean Dapper Beta install, and the problem still exists. I am not able to create a new address book. Here's my Camel debug.

I just managed to work around the problem by disabling the plugin "Exchange Operations" under "Edit" -> "Plugins". Now I can add address book again; strange...

Seems that we've got a winner: disabling "Exchange Operations" solves the problem.

Actually, I've got another problem after this disabling, but it has maybe nothing to do with this bug... Here is the trick: When I create an address book without "Exchange Operations", it says:
"Cannot open this address book. Check that path ~/.evolution/addressbook/local/xxx@computer exists and that you have access rights." As this has been translated from french, the english text is maybe somehow different. Then when I try to add contacts to this address book or delete if, it's ok, so it's a minor problem.

If anyone has the same, please let us know...
