Bug Description

If I add users to my contacts my right clicking on their email address in an email, it should add them to my address book but it doesn't work. There is no failsafe work around as far as I can see but I've manged to add one contact by messing around though can't replicate it anymore...

This is under Dapper and the Evolution build is 2.5.90.

I too am experiencing this problem under Dapper, Evolution 2.6.

Thanks for your bug. What do you do exactly? You right click on "From: ..." email by example, pick the option to add it to your book, select the local book to the dialog and it doesn't work, the book is not changed?

Is your contact listed after restarting the app?

Hello everyone,

I can confirm this bug. Here are the steps:

Let's say I get an email from someone I want to add to my contacts.
I right click on their email address, and pick the option to add to Contacts.
If you go to Contacts tab, it doesn't show the new contact.

Please note: restarting Evolution shows the new contacts. Also, prior to restarting, if you were to try to add the contact again, you would be notified that the contact already exists.

Has this bug already been resolved? I added a contact by right-clicking on their name in an email, and, even after restarting, this contact does not show up in my contacts list. The workaround I have found is to save the address book as a vCard, delete my contact list, and import the contact vCard. I'm using v2.6.1.

It has not, to my knowledge, been fixed.

Rather than going through all of that though, it may help to find the contact manually (scroll to wherever it would be) then edit and save the changes - that worked for me.

That said, I've stopped using Evolution. It has a lot of handy tools, but has given me seemingly endless trouble.

Is this fix going to be backported as a normal update to Dapper, seeing as the current build has this bug, making it rather broken?

As far as I can tell, this fix has not yet gotten into Dapper. Is this the case? If so, any estimate of when this will happen as the fix got into Edgy over a month ago. If not, then is there something that is wrong in my /ec/apt/sources.list? I have the following line which should get the update:

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu dapper-updates main restricted universe multiverse

Thanks

No, that fix is not to dapper yet. The evolution and evolution-data-server updates from GNOME 2.14.3 have been uploaded to dapper-proposed, they need to be accepted now and they will be moved to dapper-updates later if the update works fine

I can confirm this bug in Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, but for me a simple restart didn't solve the problem -- I had to run "evolution --force-shutdown" before starting Evolution again (as suggested in Bug #47329).

I hope Dapper will be fixed soon, as this bug is really annoying.
