Doesn't connect, stops at "Available/Connecting"

Binary package hint: pidgin

I use Ubuntu Hardy with Gnome and I'm using Pidgen 1:2.4.1-ubuntu2.4.

I went to log on as normal and now it says "Available-connecting" and doesn't do anything. No buddy list and I'm not even signed online.

I'd love to be able to use Pidgen for my chatting needs.

What protocol are you using? There is a known problem with Yahoo, see bug #389322.

Bug #389322 is the same problem I'm having on Pidgin. I'll keep looking at that. Does anyone know why it all of a sudden stopped working?

Marking as a duplicate of that bug.
There is information about the problem in that bug's comments. In particular, Yahoo! does not support anymore the old way messenger used to login (and pidgin too, before 2.5.7).
