rhythmbox status icon does not work

After a successful update to karmic the rhythmbox status icon does not show up ,even though it is enabled in the plugins section

Thanks for the report, you need to configure the plugin to act like that, default action is never show up, did you configure it previously? If that doesn't work you might want to try to delete your rhythmbox profile and create a new one, it could be something broken during the upgrade, thanks.

I did a clean install of kk and fired up the player.The plugin is enabled by default, but the configuration defaults to not showing the status icon.This is clearly an oxymoron.
However, after enabling everything from the dropdown menu it works.

Right it doesn't make too much sense to have it enabled but disable on the configuration, we should either disable the plugin at all or enable it on the configuration. Marking it as confirmed thanks Martin.

Took me ages to realise that to get it to minimise to tray you need to have 'status icon: owns main window'
What does that even mean?
Strikes me as perfect papercut material.

apps->rhythmbox->plugin->status-icon-->status-icon mode

set the value to 3

I confirm this bug. It is really annoying. My steps to reproduce it are: 1) I start rhythmbox, 2) after it has started, it doesn't show the status icon on the panel and it won't show until I disable and re enable the status icon plugin.
