Hi,

your report is really incomplete. Could you at least provide what you did to trigger the crash or freeze (both at the same time sounds unlikely).
A backtrace or a terminal output if any would be great too.

Thus marking Incomplete for now. Please set again to New as soon you have some more information for us.

Regards
Evgeni

Beg your pardon, do you have any more informations on what you did to make that happen, any way to reproduce? Does it happen all the time, only when you do something specific, ...?

Hi i don't speak english correctly: i'm playing and the game has "frozen"
after some minutes , in the system monitor wesnoth is running near 50% but
the cpu is at 100% and i have to kill the process. I have retried several
times but it always the same thing.
Strangely, i have this problem since the update kernel 2.28.13 generic (x86
64)

Hm,

which scenario were you playing? Does this happen with other scenarios too?
Could you also retest after turning off animations and displaying of enemy moves?
Does a kernel downgrade help?

Thanks in advance
Evgeni

Hey. When Wesnoth does the 100% CPU thing.
Does running:
killall pulseaudio

Help?
Might cause Wesnoth to exit...
Also, might try turning off all sound.
SDL + 100% CPU useage is a common issue for me with pulseaudio.

There is a known issue with libsdl alsa, please install:
libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio

Let us know it fixes your problem.

Similar problem. On Karmic, game would hang when I tried to quit (nothing played, just opened and attempted to quit), and could only reclaim CPU usage by with kill -9. Audio was either non-existent, or skipped for a few seconds before becoming silent.

Fixed by installing libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio

Running of Karmic with 2.6.31-14-generic, on amd64. Please let me know if you need any more information.

Do I read you correctly, Sean, that installing libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio fixes the issue for you? If so this bug can probably get closed as invalid, I would suspect.

 Thanks for your feedback!

Yes, installing libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio fixed it.

Though I understand the bug is not with Wesnoth, but with the sdl-alsa package, would it be possible to make a libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio a required package for Wesnoth, at least until sdl-alsa is fixed?

Just to confirm: indeed, you can't quit on Karmic + Wesnoth 1.6.5 (at any time, no matter which scerario, etc). It freezes. Installing libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio fixes it.
