Gramps' Pedigree view shows black rectangles instead of letters

Binary package hint: gramps

When displaying the 'Pedigree' view in Gramps, the text in the view is rendered as black rectangles instead of letters.

I have tried selecting a different set of fonts from the 'Appearance' preferences pane, to no avail. As my display is 170DPI, I also tried setting the DPI down to 100 and turning the point size of the font up, still making no difference.

I've attached a screenshot illustrating the issue.

I do not know if this could fix this issue, but is it still present on Gramps-3.1.2 ?
