Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I have discovered that some tables, apparently, cannot be displayed properly by OpenOffice.org Writer. The attached .doc file, a rubric for an assignment in one of my classes, should contain a table with text. However, in OpenOffice.org, only the title appears.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Also in a terminal type:
apt-cache policy openoffice.org
uname -a

and attach the output to here.

This bug can be reproduced on amd64 on upstream OOo 3.1.0 but appears fixed in dev300m49 (OOo 3.2.0).

Will 3.2 be in Karmic?

im guessing since the bug milestone was marked to 'later', it will be
Karmic+1 which means it probably won't make it into Karmic.

Yes, unfortunately OOo 3.2.0 won't make it until Ubuntu 10.04 (Karmic+1)

I can confirm this bug, and i'm attaching a file that causes the problem, where openoffice.org only displays info that is not inside the table.

my system parameters are, for amd64 architecture:

I can confirm this problem is caused by the upgrade to ubuntu jaunty. I actually have docs that were correctly modified in oo previous version under ubuntu hardy, and now have this problem.

Testing the docs whith which i've problems: it seems to me that the problem is that .doc that have tables that exceed left margin, are not able to be visualized.

Converting a .doc whith this problem to .odt, solves the issue: the table show correctly.

This is not a conversion issue, becaus if you convert the same .odt to .doc, the problem is there again.

When correcting the left margin of the table, to be inside margins of the page, and converting from odt. to .doc, the table show up correctly.

Hope this help, solving the problem, and working around it.
