Builds without problems in Jaunty, see package and logs at https://launchpad.net/~loic-martin3/+archive/gnucash

To try under Ubuntu 9.04 32bits, please use https://launchpad.net/~loic-martin3/+archive/gnucash/+files/gnucash_2.2.9-0ubuntu1~jaunty1_i386.deb

If you use Ubuntu 9.04 64 bits, please use https://launchpad.net/~loic-martin3/+archive/gnucash/+files/gnucash_2.2.9-0ubuntu1~jaunty1_amd64.deb

Please test the packages in Jaunty and report of they work well or not, including possibly online banking (especially if the online banking worked already with 2.2.6).

Runs without glitches on i386 both English and French locale. Didn't test online banking.

Just forgot: you need to install 2 packages, the first is in the post 2 posts above and depends on wheter you use 32 bits or 64 bits Ubuntu, the second is common and can be found here:

Confirmation: I just installed Gnucash from your PPA and (of course) it installs and runs fine under Ubuntu 9.04.

I do not use either online banking or FQ so I have not tested those.

P.S.: I missed seeing this back in June. My sincerest apologies for not seeing your message.

Hi,

We now have gnucash_2.2.9-0ubuntu4 in karmic, is this request still
approved?

Thanks,

James

James, good question. Only 2.2.9-0ubuntu1 can be backported to Jaunty, I filled that request hoping it would have enough users reporting it worked before -0ubuntu2 got uploaded.

Gnucash 2.2.9-0ubuntu2 and upwards have been patched to build against libgoffice-0-8, which is only in Karmic. See changelog:

If it's possible to backport 2.2.9-0ubuntu1, please go ahead, it has worthwhile improvements. If not, it's better not to try, since later releases will probably fail to build.
Thanks.

Loïc,

Make a debdiff that reverts the incompatible change(s) (make sure debian/changelog reflects backports versioning) and I'll see about uploading that.

Here's the debdiff. I removed only what prevented -0ubuntu4 to build for Jaunty, all dependencies-versions related. I left 04_renew-gui.dpatch even though it's not necessary with libaqbanking20-dev (Jaunty), the bug report seems like it's not harmful either (see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=582048).

Builds fine, see logs https://launchpad.net/~loic-martin3/+archive/ppa/+build/1267234/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-jaunty-i386.gnucash_2.2.9-0ubuntu4~jaunty1_FULLYBUILT.txt.gz
Seems to run fine on i386 Jaunty, but I'm not a gnucash user. -0ubuntu1 was tested before though.

gnucash (2.2.9-0ubuntu4~jaunty1) jaunty-backports; urgency=low

  * Backport to Jaunty (LP: #383742), changes:
    + debian/control: Build-Depends on libgoffice-0-6-dev and
      libaqbanking20-dev since libgoffice-0.8-dev and libaqbanking29-dev
      are only in Karmic. The deps are now the same as with 2.2.9-0ubuntu1;
    + debian/patches: remove 03_goffice_0-7-5_support.dpatch from OOlist
since we build agaisnt libgoffice-0-6-dev. Left 04_renew-gui.dpatch
applied, it's not necessary with libaqbanking20-dev, but removing it
      doesn't seem necessary.
