   VTK 5.4 has been released for some time. It will be great if Ubuntu has the latest version.

I agree, we are still in 5.0 version.

In 5.2 it introduce a simple way to transform numpy arrays to vtk data. It will then be great to have the latest version.

Karmic has 5.2 now, still not 5.4 though.
