You can find the latest packages for jaunty and karmic in fidojones' ppa:

https://launchpad.net/~fidojones/+archive/ppa/+packages

It works fine so far for me.
Weather globe animations seem to use far less CPU time.

  * debian/patches/14_svn_1264_gtk_events.patch: Patch from upstream SVN to
    fix events using gtk 2.18 or higher. (Upstream bug #335)
