Bug Description

I have found that recently when using OggConvert the resulting file has clicks and pops in the audio.
Running Ubuntu 9.04 64bit.

Same problem with Ubuntu 9.04 64bit and 32bit, encoding from H264/ACC .mp4 videos
Thanks for this soft anyway, it's great !

Same here. Source is H.264/AC3. Setting USE_AUDIORATE=True didn't help.

That's sad, because the only other stable Theora encoder is ffmpeg, and it outputs the shitty Ogg container files only.

Yep, I can confirm this happens when transcoding from certain containers, with ASF (wma/wmv) and, ironically, Matroska seeming to be the worst culprits.

As noting in the source, the GStreamer vorbis encoder isn't very good at dealing with "bad" timestamps, and so we try to use the audiorate element to fix up broken/dodgy streams. Unfortunately, it seems like this doesn't always help, and I don't really know what else to do!

Using gst-launch from the command line has exactly the same problem, so it's tempting to say this is a GStreamer problem. However, there may be a well-known workaround that OggConvert isn't using -- I'll have to do some investigation.

Does anyone know if someone has contacted the Gstreamer folks or filed a bug report?

I've run into a similar issue, and it seems that removing the audioconvert element also removes the audio artifacts, but for some stuff audioconvert is sadly required.

Yep. I get this in Trisquel 5.5 as well.
