Bug Description

I've seen this bug, but not for my model, so I thought to add another bug.

Running off battery, I close the lid of the laptop and when resuming from the suspension, keyboard and mouse don't work.

I'm seeing something similar on an hp Pavillion DV5-1213, but it's not necessarily the exact same bug. Do you have an external keyboard you could connect after resume to be able to run:

apport-collect 377260

This will collect various hardware information which can be attached to this bug.

Hi Jon,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 377260

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not interested in installing Ubuntu on my laptop right now. Can I do all
those things through a boot session?

Jon,
You should be able to test it with a daily live image located at: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ These work the same as a live CD image with no impact to your machine.

Thanks!

Hey

I used today's image and used Fedora's LiveUSB creator to boot using my USB
stick (didn't burn), on the same HP pavilion DV4.

Results:

   - Manually sleeping using the Power->Sleep option and resuming: keyboard
and mouse pad functional but mouse cursor is invisible. Hovering with the
mouse over certain areas shows tooltips.
After 20-30 seconds mouse cursor reappears.
   - Sleeping by closing laptop lid: Same results, only mouse cursor did not
reappear this time, and I had to reboot.

Hope this helps...
