Bug Description

Using Dapper with the latest updates (27/03/2006) I run in the following bug:
Creating a bookmark in nautilus from a FTP session will lead to a freeze the panel after a logout/login.

To reproduce the bug:
1. choose Place / Connect to Server... / FTP (with login)
2. put server-name
3. click on created icon - type in the password
4. browse to a folder on the FTP-server
5. create the folder to the bookmarks (via drag and drop)
6. umount (optional)
7. logout/login
8. panel/desktop is frozen

The only way to get back to a usable desktop is to delete the bookmark.

For point 5. you should read:
5. create a bookmark to the folder in nautilus (via drag and drop)

Might be related to Bug #32873

If this is related to bug 32873, can you try to get a backtrace of gnome-panel? Follow these steps during the hang:
 * ctrl-alt-f1
 * login
 * gdb -p $(pidof gnome-panel)
 * (gdb) set logging on
 * (gdb) set logging file output
 * (gdb) thread all apply bt
 * Ctrl-C
and attach the output file here.

Following your instructions no output-file has been generated.
gdb just complained that no symbol table is loaded.
Sorry, I am just a stupid user - and not a programmer. I have no experience with gdb.
Not sure what's wrong - I would try it again with complementary instructions.

I tried to get a useful gdb-output.
I guess your instructions should be read as:
thread apply all bt ? (so first the apply and then the all)
Anyway all I received is in the gdb-output file. I followed your instruction after the panel-freeze (without logout/login).
Hope this is helpful.

The backtrace has no useful information. Is nautilus frozen too, or just the panel? Could be same issue than bug #32873

No, nautilus is not frozen. I can call nautilus from the gnome-terminal (on my desktop) and remove the bookmark to the FTP-server. This is also the easiest thing to do, to get back to a usable desktop (after a reboot).
I reported this as a Nautilus-bug since the panel freeze occurs after creating the bookmark in nautilus.

That's a duplicate of bug #32873 and a libgnomeui issue
