Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdepim

KMail
Version 1.11.2

I just cannot get this version of Kmail to use the 'Standard Templates' tab.

In reply to Sender I have:

%CURSOR

Taken from my KDE3x days. (notice the '9' next to wrote - for testing).

If I hit reply or reply to Author:

Cursor is at the bottom of the quoted email (very annoying) and the top of the quoted message is listed as:

Same for Reply to All.

At first I thought it was just ignoring the %CURSOR, but then quickly realised it is completely ignoring the Templates.

A further update on this bug. This is indeed a bug.

It would appear that on all my folders the option 'Use custom message templates' is on.

If I turn this OFF, it still ignores the templates in the main settings.

To get around this, I have to edit every custom template on every folder! Most annoying.

A response to this or even an acknowledgement would be great.

A further update.

A simpler way to 'get round this' is to close KMail. Then edit kmailrc (.kde/share/config/) and remove all [Template...] sections.

Then save it.

Once you restart it it should use the main Standard Templates.

The problem still remains that you cannot turn off using custom Templates for each folder.

OR something similar? It was depending whether I used reply (or button r) on an email, or did I selected an email address and composed new email to that address - in 2nd case, the templates where not used.

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.

Thanks!
