Bug Description
Binary package hint: nautilus
I am using Ubuntu 9.04, a fresh install using my various old home settings.
Nautilus is 1:2.26.2-0ubuntu1.
I am using 'desktop_
The situation.
When logged in, if I try to move a file or a folder from any folder on my desktop to the desktop itself, the element is copied , not moved.
I expect that the file would be moved to the new position.
The owner of the home content is me, obviously.
Now, I found that if I open a folder in browsing mode and close it immediately, now the strange behaviour disappears. Now I can move files and folders as expected.
But if I restart my system, the problem appears again.

Thank you for your bug report, I'm not confirming the issue there, do you have those directories on the same drive?
