Bug Description

after switching to the fglrx video driver from the ati driver, I ran dpkg-reconfigure --phigh xserver-xorg and then restarted gdm, which caused the system to lock up. I rebooted and after the loading bar the display would flicker for a bit and then freeze completely. I had to boot from a livecd and revert xorg.conf back to an older version to get back into my system.

Can you see if you can still reproduce the problem with the latest driver in Ubuntu Karmic, please?

I've switched between video drivers a couple times in karmic and haven't run into the problem.
