Bug Description

I know the DejaVu font is very interesting for many languages (as I can see in Bug #12016), but Bitstream Vera shows better thatn DejaVu, as you can see in Bug #35470. Therefore, I propose to revert the changes and set Bitstream Vera the default font in Dapper instead of DejaVu.

Isn't this actually a Pango kerning bug? And how much does changing this actually help? Eg. I think I tracked back bug #33445 to being Vera, rather than DejaVu.

Bug #35470 is wrong. This bug affects any font that has its kerning applied by Pango. When you have a version of Pango that applies kerning to Bitstream you'll see the same tighted characters in gtk menus.
I really think this is a gtk menu specific bug, no matter what the font is as long as it has kerning.
