Bug Description

On Vista when we launch Elisa, intially it runs fine and also closes OK but when we close it subsequently many times at some point Elisa does not start , only intial splash screen shows up. This problem is observed on two Vista machines one physical and other VM image.On physical one command (elisa_reboot.exe 1 0) caused it to never start again beyond splash screen ,whereas on VM just using normal closing operation caused it to behave this way.In task manager it was observed that elisa.exe process and one elisa fork process was running.Even if elisa.exe and fork process are killed ,Elisa never starts.

Please find attached logs for both physical Vista and VM image.

Steps to reproduce ;

1.Launch Elisa 0.5.34
2.Close it down 2-3 times either through elisa_reboot or normally
3.Again Launch Elisa

Expected Result : Elisa starts

Current Result : Elisa never goes beyond splash screen , with elisa.exe and one elisa_fork process still alive.

I can't reproduce it here on my super Vista non-virtual machine... Is that happening only on vista for you? I indeed see an error that could be the cause of elisa not starting (in widget.py). But as I say I can't reproduce it so it won't be easy for me to fix :/

Yes its happening on Vista only. The issue is that Elisa never starts again on that machine even if Elisa is uninstalled and installed again.At some instance while closing Elisa many times this issue happens, so it is difficult to reproduce it.

On xp also sometimes elisa.exe process is not stopped after closing Elisa.But that is different Bug #352151, in that case Elisa starts after killing that process.

We'll try to provide you a patched egg fixing that traceback. Will you
then be able to test it and tell us if that fixes the issue for you?

This bug shows a traceback in the poblesec plugin. it should be easy to fix, the Notifier class needs to be registered as a gobject type using gobject.register_type()

The issue seems to be fixed by new pobelsec plugin ,also there is no trace back observed in logs i.e (exceptions.TypeError: object at 0x06061AA8 of type Notifier is not initialized).Please find attached log files for both vista on mac parallels and physical machine.
