Bug Description

Binary package hint: rdesktop

I am connecting to a local "kvm" system running WindowsXP using the command line:

rdesktop -g 1184x864 10.35.173.38 -r disk:homedir=/home/wkuballa

When trying to access "homedir" in the rdp-session, Windows returns the error message;

\\tsclient\homedir is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this ...
The device is not connected.

However, when I start the rdp-session using this command:

strace -o /tmp/tempf rdesktop -g 1184x864 10.35.173.38 -r disk:homedir=/home/wkuballa

I can access "homedir" just fine.

This bug is easy to repeat. Just start an rdp-session with one or the other command and try to access the local disk.

I am using Ubuntu 9.04 with updates up to 30-Mar-2009, rdesktop version: 1.6.0

regards,
Werner

I almost forgot about that - or: I got so used to using workarounds that I
just don't care any more. I still have the same problem (can not access the
host file system) on some virtual systems. As far as I can see, there is no
rhyme or reason why one virtual system can and the other can not....

I have the same problem, and it happens only with Windows 7 and 2008.
XP and 2003 work correctly.

I have the same problem with rdesktop 1.7.0, Ubuntu 11.10, Windows XP SP3

On my laptop everything is fine, but on the desktop sometimes I got the message "The device is not connected" and shared folder is not accessible.

But if I use rdesktop under strace (thanks for the advice!) - this message never appears and shared folder is always accessible.

It seems (I'm not totally sure) that the same error exists in xfreerdp 1.0.1
