The screensaver fades twice

Bug Description

First it fades slowly and then just as it becomes completely black, it jumps back out to full brightness again and fades again but this time more quickly.

I'm running Dapper i386 in and AMD64 system with an nvidia GeForce4 MX 4000 card, using the Free drivers.

I'm getting this too, but oddly enough, I don't get the double fading when executing 'gnome-screensaver-command --activate'.

tried that, but it seems it breaks "gnome-screensaver-command --lock", the screen doesnt lock at all with that patch unless the gconf key is set

You discovered a different bug that I've now fixed in CVS HEAD and 2-14. Does the patch on 333180 work now?

Yes, that patch fixes the double fade bug. The --lock parameter does not lock the screen however, as in the comment by Oliver.

I applied the patch on the 2.14.1-0ubuntu2 version of gnome-screensaver.

the fix should be included upstream in 2.15.x does it still occur for anyone with that version in edgy ?
